"He did not touch the diary during those days. If there was any relief, it was in his work, in which he could sometimes forget himself for ten minutes at a stretch." At this point in the novel Winston is curious and worried as to what has happed to the girl, and like many of us he uses work to distract himself. What I am wondering though, is why is it his work that distracts him? I thought he felt that what he did for a job was wrong.
